The concept for Mallard Manor began as an idea sparked by an intern Terry Westmoreland had working for him. It was nothing more than a laughable idea; an idea that has come to fruition as a result of God's grace. An idea that six weeks later had us making a site visit to Stuttgart Arkansas. As fast as the doors in Stuttgart opened, they just as quickly were slammed shut. We tempered our efforts and decided to be patient. If this truly was an opportunity that God wanted to see us in, then another door would be opened. Out of that patience, another door did in fact open in Drew, Mississippi. Three and one-half months later, the land was purchased and construction began.
The concept of a commercial operation of this magnitude was very enticing. It was our belief that we could provide a stronger, better environment for
waterfowling
at less expense to the consumer. A lack of the ideal hunting environment, the skyrocketing cost of land, and the expense to prepare and maintain these sites makes
waterfowling
cost prohibitive to a large sector of society, not to mention the enormous time constraints.
Our goal at Mallard Manor is to offer a family-based Christian atmosphere. Our belief is that we can provide the ultimate hunting experience coupled with first class accommodations. We provide first rate service that far exceeds the cost factor, which is virtually unheard of in our industry. Furthermore, our belief is that we can bring the same success that Stuttgart experienced in the early days to the Delta of Mississippi. Historically, duck concentrations have been stronger, even in the lean years and we are 2.5 hours closer than Stuttgart for those east of the Mississippi River.
For generations, The Delta of Mississippi has been known for its hunting opportunities. Fortunately, this natural phenomenon has never been negatively exploited. It is no great secret that the Mississippi flyway hosts more ducks than any of the other flyways. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service studies show that 60% of all migrating waterfowl come down the Mississippi flyway. According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, our properties are in the direct path of that migration concentration. What we found out was that we are in
"The Zone."
